Nowadays, one of the biggest challenge in business is the ability of the management to define the long-terms plan delivering immediate high results, as well.
This challenge was in the past on the management agenda and it does not seems that in the near future the situation will change.
Taking into consideration, today high volatile markets, the diversification of products and services is essential. Customer requests are more sophisticated and pressure on cost is higher than ever.
Under these circumstances the management task to run the business becomes very difficult.
In order to keep the team focus we need to have the right strategy with detailed implementation plan and measuring the performance with relevant set of key performance indicators. This is not a process just nice to have. If it is professional established the strategy becomes a competitive advantage.
In simple words, the strategy is the vehicle helping entrepreneurs and management to transform the dream (vision) into the reality (the expected business results).
Defining the strategy is not an easy process. It is a very technic one and it has to be very creative as well. It is required to be very detailed process approaching each area of the business. Being so complex sometimes management teams are irritated to participate and they find it as “wasting time”!
However, we say that running the business without a strategy with detailed implementation plan is actually “wasting time”!
We should highlight you need to have a well-structured plan covering all product lines and areas of the business in order to tackle with competitors, with solutions how to deliver to your customers high quality products and services.
I am not born a consultant but I have accumulated an outstanding experience acting in different industries and countries contributing to the development of several strategies and action plans implementation. I have seen good stories and bad stories as well!

What should you expect?
First of all, you may find there are no miracles! Your strategy cannot be developed in three days!
It is a pretty comprehensive process and when you start you have to choose firstly the time window for your strategy. Probably the period of 5 years is too long and two years is too short, usually it is recommended to analyse where you see your company in 3 years’ time.
You need to assess external environment and internal situation covering entire product portfolio, markets, and technology with production capacity, improvement of process and the organization development. Also, it is critical to consider IT systems which could make your company flies or going to a general collapse.
It seems complex. It is not definitely easy. However, it is manageable and very useful process if you have the right people from the organization involved and you chose a competent extern consultant to facilitate the entire discussion and advice for the main strategic directions.
